V60DSK01 60 GHz Millimeter Wave Development System

For the first time, a 60 GHz development system is now available that features Vubiq’s recently announced 60 GHz integrated radio on a chip (“smaller than a dime”). Developers in a number of different industries will be able to utilize 60 GHz transmitter and receiver boards, which incorporate a USB/PC interface for easy configuration and control. A user-friendly GUI is supplied, allowing for development of such varied applications as high definition uncompressed video transport, wireless LANs and PANs, high-speed file transfer, ground-based radar, and many others.

Previously, millimeter wave technology and product development was encumbered by the high cost of traditional hardware approaches using waveguide, MMIC/MIC and discrete GaAs and/or other III-V process devices.  Vubiq’s technology is based on SiGe and CMOS – pointing the way to low cost for millimeter wave applications.  The Vubiq transmitters and receivers are housed in standard 81-pin BGA IC packages (10mm) with integrated high-efficiency antennas and low-loss radomes (patent pending).

The V60DSK01 enables experimentation and development in the 57-64 GHz millimeter wave band, allowing developers to define the baseband technology of their choice. Users have a selection of differential interfaces for I/Q (vector) modulation, FM or AM. These signals are brought out to a high-speed header connector for easy system integration.  An optional adapter board is available that transitions the high-speed header to coaxial (MCX) connectors of all baseband signals enabling simplified testing.

Vubiq also has available a High Speed Expansion Board Kit, which includes two daughter cards and 8 coaxial cables.  The daughter cards fit into the high speed header connectors on both the Tx and Rx Boards of the Development System, and are configured to allow phase matched MCX to SMA coaxial cables to connect baseband data into the Development System for convenient lab and test interconnection.
